Is It Bad?

That I want to splurge? I found these most adorable shoes (Dolce Vita Viola) to go along with an adorable Anzevino & Florence silk linen, organza dress and a pair of adorable 80′s Purple oversize sunglasses!! I feel that they are necessities to my wardrobe! But how on earth am I to obtain $494 for the whole ensemble? Aye…

Yesterday, my boyfriend and I ventured into the Belmont neighborhood for some much needed breakfast! We decided to try Pine State Biscuits (see Platial on the sidebar for location), since the last time we drove by the joint it was completely packed and there was a line out the door – which is a good indication that the food must be delicious! (Including the sprawling press coverage – click here) And delicious it was! I ordered the Reggie Deluxe (which was a mistake on my part, because it was huge! Also, check out Oprah’s site on the Reggie Deluxe).

The ginormous sandwich called for one biscuit, fried chicken, bacon, egg, cheese, and rich gravy! Wowzers!

Drama, Drama, Drama

It must be Drama month for Sagittarians.

My poor boyfriend was in a car accident this past weekend. A woman stopped at a stop sign on a merge, didn’t see anyone coming, and bam! She hit my boyfriend; he had the right away, who was riding on his bicycle. He had all the safety apparatus and she still did not see him. FORTUNELY, he is a lucky one! He survived the crash, but he came away with four fractured bones and a sensitive arm, due to a fracture in his shoulder blade, and he can’t use it much for a while.

Second, my mom has shingles! My goodness! Poor woman! Within 48 hours she went to the doctor’s and received some anti-viral medication, but it isn’t working. So she and I went to New Seasons to purchase some eucalyptus oil so she can use it on her boils to relieve pain and hope that it will act as an antiseptic and dry those boils. Good news is that old boils have dried; bad news is the new boils are popping up.

Third, I need my MMR shot. Apparently the MMR shot I received at 9 months old in Hong Kong is not acceptable. Therefore, I need my THIRD (yes, THIRD) MMR shot now, so that I may continue my education at Portland State University. I can’t even register for summer classes until I receive my vaccination. On top of which, PSU Health Center has such a time constraint on when students can receive their vaccination (between 9am – 3:20pm) that conflicts with my overall schedule. So, I am taking off work early to go have my vaccination. Anymore of this time off then I’m going to have to take time off without pay. Ah, I will be a poor student, indeed. Although… I really would not mind one week off without pay, because I think it would be worth it for my sanity; and I’ll be able to catch up on my homework!

Fourth, Shannon (a Sagittarian like myself) is has some issues of her own. One is her fairly new car that has been eating up oil like there’s no tomorrow (she just found out that she needs a new engine now!). Then there’s some soccer drama with her son and her search for a new house, etc.

I would just like to say, May, YOU SUCK!

On a lovely note, while at school yesterday, I stopped by the Basha Mediterranean food cart on campus and had a delicious falafel! I will definitely eat there again!

The Short-Short Book Review

Read This: Tarzan of the Apes – Edgar Rice Burroughs

Why?

Hello? The original Superman? The ultimate hotness? Tragedy? Betrayal? Plus, the movies absurdly did not do Tarzan any justice! Just read the book and you’ll know what I mean. (P.S. Do not read the sequels.)

Read This: Frankenstein – Mary Shelley

Why?

For the same reason as above! No, the monster was not hot, however, the movies did not do Frankenstein any justice! The monster, an intellectual being who was clearly misunderstood due to his grotesque physique, therefore exacting revenge on the stupidity of human beings; meanwhile Frankenstein, the jackass, takes revenge against his creation because the monster is just too damn ugly. How rude!

Read This: She – H. Rider Haggard

Why?

Mysterious relics? Seeking a long lost God-like (Goddess-like?) creature? Mythology? Adventure? Avengers? Revenge? Grecian hotness? A scorned wife who seeks revenge upon the murder of her husband by an immortal woman, the said immortal woman fell in love with this husband, but could not have him, thus killed him! The scorned wife, then passed on a message to her descendants to seek revenge against this immortal woman; hence 2,000 years later, enter Leo Vincey. Leo Vincey and his adopted father Horace Holly journeys on an adventure to seek the truth about this woman, only to discover… the immortal woman believes Vincey to be the dead husband who returned from the afterlife! Again, the movies did not encompass the compelling story of the book!

Are we seeing a pattern here?

PSU

It has been a while since I’ve posted anything on this blog. Lets catch everyone up!

I returned to school! (See Platial on the right.) I’ve been attending Portland State University to refine my writing skills and to learn about film! I’m also taking piano lessons – to refresh my childhood memories from when I used to play the piano. Originally, I wanted to take violin lessons, but piano will do.

It’s been over a month since I started school and so far so good. I had been a little overwhelmed and burnt out from reading; I am also realizing (as a film minor) that I should watch more movies, but it is becoming slightly difficult to do this. Mostly because when I get home I want to relax and play video games! Yikes. I almost refrain from watching any movies, because it’ll cause me to dissect each scene.

I’ve also discovered something terrifying about myself! When I become stressed I eat! I eat and eat and eat. Basically, my resolution to this is to control my appetite, workout once a week (because that is all I can muster), and refrain from dessert (that is what gets to me the most). I think I’ve gained 10 pounds in the span of one month – no kidding!

On the pro side of eating (yes, not eating), I’ve decided that I should explore some of the little eateries near my school (once a week, perhaps).

Other stuff I’ve been doing.

  • I’ve set up a Writer’s network! Check it out! Read! Write! Join! It’s called www.WritersUnite.com
  • I’m Tweeting! See sidebar on the right!
  • I’m still Plurking! PLURK FOREVER! www.plurk.com/MissCaughtUp
  • And yes, I am on Facebook playing the likes of Restaurant City, YoVille (still), and Hell’s Kitchen. I even bought a snazzy Wireless Mighty Mouse for my Mac for such games like Hell’s Kitchen! It is truely sad… However, the Mouse is pretty damn sweet!

Well, until next time, you know where to catch me!
